This accommodation has been developed with sustainability in mind and is a great example of a warm, comfortable off-the-grid home
Power is provided by solar panels and wind turbines and hot water is provided by a combination of a wetback from the large wood burner, instant gas and solar. All windows, doors and skylights are double-glazed and insulation has been maximised. Low emission paints, floorings and furnishings and sustainable building materials have been used where practical.
Under the Homestar residential rating scheme, the lodge has a self-assessment rating of seven stars out of ten.
The property is also managed sustainably with biodynamic methods applied to areas of pasture and a small orchard of heritage fruit trees.
Control of stoats, rats, wild cats and possums is carried out as part of the management of the property.
We are proud to have 110 hectares of the property under a QEII covenant so the land, plants and animals are protected for future generations.
